Nov 13, 2009, @626.beats Since we'll mainly focus on bug fixes and already-implemented feature
improvements for the rest of the NewsLeecher V4.0 betas, there will not be any
more additions to NewsLeecher, before V4.0 Final has been released.
So before we get flooded with questions, regarding whether this-and-that feature
is ever going to get implemented, here's a roadmap for the larger features
we have planned for future releases. Note though, that the roadmap is *not*
binding. We might change the roadmap at any time, due to whatever reason we
have for doing that.
Version 5
NewsLeecher V5 will introduce multi-tabbed SuperSearching, which will allow one
to operate several SuperSearch views simultaneously.
We are also looking into implementing a complete Keyword-Manager for V5, which
will make it possible to place downloaded and Repair'n'Extracted articles in
user-specified folder locations, based on user-specified article keywords. This
will make download managing much easier and flexible for many users.
Furthermore we'll continue to optimize the user interface and performance
of NewsLeecher, striving for a non-bloated, fast and good looking
product.
Version 6
Our current plan is to implement full text reader support into NewsLeecher V6.
It will be implemented in a very discrete way, making it almost unnoticeably
visually and performance wise, for users who don't care about text reader
capabilities.
We already have some great usability ideas for the text
reader implementation, which haven't been seen in any usenet news reader before.
Version 7+
Time will tell. We hear rumors, that the development language we use for making
NewsLeecher, will be able to provide us with the possibility to make native
NewsLeecher releases for MacOS and Linux. This is something we'll put a lot
of effort into providing for our users, if it gets technically possible.
Besides what's mentioned in the roadmap above, there will, of course, be tons of
smaller NewsLeecher improvements and additions aswell. So lots of stuff on the
roadmap for the NewsLeecher future.
Remember that our monthly subscription plan, priced at under 3 bucks a
month (US$2.99), will give you access to all upcoming NewsLeecher releases aswell
as unlimited access to our SuperSearch service, for as long as the subscription is
kept active.
Nov 12, 2009, @988.beats NewsLeecher V4.0 Beta 9 is now available for download.
Just like the previous beta, this beta features new major
performance improvements. The performance improvements are
most visible when browsing usenet groups containing large amounts
of articles, or when browsing groups on a slow computer.
But the general speed of NewsLeecher is also improved with this
release.
