Is Supersearch "deobfuscation" mis-labeling posts?

I've been noticing something in Usenet groups where people are posting identical videos in both 1080p and 4K (2160p). I'm seeing a lot of this: https://images2.imgbox.com/e1/95/8X2urZfo_o.jpg https://images2.imgbox.com/9f/aa/0xvm2DRb_o.jpg Notice that they both say 1080p in the title, but one is muc...

Re: Newsleecher V8 Beta Release - Timeline

newsleeher version 7 is free to use! Just saying... :D Yes, Newsleecher 7 is free. And you know the old saying, you get what you pay for. Even though NL is free, I have switched to a different Usenet program which is not free. I hated to do it because I've used NL for a long time. But it is very ob...

Re: Garbage articles

can you send us some examples please? support@newsleecher.com thanks, Here is just one tiny sample of what I'm talking about. Sorting of multi-part articles is wrong

The last part of a multi-part article is always moved into 2nd position.

Notice that part 77, the last part, is after part 01.

Image

I delete part 77 and close Newsleecher, then re-open Newsleecher.

Now part 76 is after part 01.

Garbage articles

On Jan 5 you posted:

"The SuperSearch service has now been fully upgraded. Lots of spam articles were removed from the service"

However most groups are still filled with garbage articles with subject lines like "Dra1Y6NLF9utPwGbYAHs6Xl8RfHJQfcr".

Problem with par2 recovery

NL 7 Final There is a problem with the built-in par2 recovery function. Sometimes when I download a large multi-part file with some incomplete parts, NL can't repair it and says I need more blocks. But I can run an external par2 program (MultiPar https://multipar.eu/ ) and it will repair the files j...

NL 7 Final and Supersearch

You are advertising 2975 days retention for your Usenet service, but, the maximum number of days you can search in NewsLeecher 7 Final is 2600. Not a big deal but probably should be updated.

Re: alt.binaries.teevee

actually, correction, my search didnt pertain to specific teevee available content. After a new test ( refreshing the headers in the group teevee) , you can see a lot of post with , buymore@suprnova.com poster, it is basically the same issue as a couple weeks ago, unfortunately, it seems the group'...

Suggestions for Improvement

Download Queue: When a file has been successfully downloaded, it is removed from the download queue, but, NL does not update it's internal queue until you exit the program. As a result, you can get the following problem: You have several files in the download queue, and you download some of them, an...

Re: Please change the flashing spam notification

Spiril wrote:Blakeyrat,

When it's flashing, just click the small 'spam' button in the bottom right corner of the NewsLeecher main window. Then the spam notification will go away.

For NewsLeecher V8.x I will implement an option to make the spam notification less intrusive.
Thank you. Much appreciated.

Re: Please change the flashing spam notification

You misunderstood my post. I want NL to check for those things so I don't waste my time downloading them. But when NL encounters Spam it flashes forever (until you exit the program) and that's really annoying. What I would like to see is something like this: NL detects Spam, flashes to alert me I cl...

Please change the flashing spam notification

When NL 6 or 7 encounters an article that is spam, the entire top part of the program flashes yellow -- and there's no way to make it stop except to exit the program. This is very annoying. There has to be a better way. Is there a setting I'm not seeing?

Re: New Supersearch problem

Update: I didn't provide enough information in my previous post. If I search for something specific, Supersearch works normally. But sometimes I want to see all the new items in a certain group so I'll set Supersearch to the number of days (10, 30, whatever) and then do something like this: group:al...
