My Newsleecher V7B7 "Superleech" works just fine

I just logged on and read all the problems some users have been having with the latest Newsleecher V7 Beta 7 and the "Superleech" service.
I installed V7B7 on April 15th the day it was released and have had no issues with "Superleech". I have been running Newsleecher in tandem with the latest "Newsbin" news reader on a laptop dedicated to comparing the two newsreaders. Newsbin is hooked to "SickRage" to find weekly US and BBC TV programming. The Newsleecher "Superleech" queue has mirrored the search list used in "SickRage. Since April 15th I have not missed any TV programs in the Newsleecher queue that have been found by the "SickRage/Newsbin" combination.

I wonder if there has been a virus or trojan implanted in Newsleecher that has disabled the search service for some of the Newsleecher users?
Something to think about.

Well it aint working for a lot of us. Mine is finding *some* things now (doesn't seem to find anything but small files), but doing a manual search finds a whole lot more (the stuff I am actually looking for).

I still don't see any of the reported search problems discussed in the forum with the Newsleecher "Superleech " or "SuperSearch" at this time.
I just checked the overnight downloads from the Newsleecher "Superleech" queue list and the downloads from the Newsbin/SickRage search list.
I had 4 search items in "Superleech" and the same 4 items in Newsbin/SickRage set for last night.
Both Newsleecher and Newsbin/SickRage found the items and downloaded and extracted then successfully.
At this time I don't see any problems with the Newsleecher server as the source of the search failures here.

Question: Do the Newsleecher users that are experiencing the search problems have a good quality internet security
software program running on their computers? Does it monitor and scan all downloads for bugs, viruses and malware
on the fly as they download and also monitor the downloads as they are extracted by Newsleecher? My security software will
kill and delete any downloads and extractions that the security scans find to be infected or even suspicious.

I still believe there might be some kind of infection out there that has embedded itself into Newsleecher and killed or disabled
the search functions.

That is something the developers should also consider as a possible cause of the search issues.

I may be completely wrong on this, but it is my observation from the latest posts on the matter.

Looks like they fixed something - just got over 1000 matches on version 6.5b6. (So many because I switched off all the filtering to make sure it didn't miss anything.).

Lets see how it goes before we get too happy though.

Well, again last night all my Newsleecher V7B7 "Superleech" queries downloaded and extracted as expected. Nothing was missed. Newsbin/SickRage also found the same TV programs and downloaded and extracted without incident. I guess I'm just lucky with Newsleecher lately.

Lucky you...

Still not working correctly here, have 120 entries and it occasionally finds a couple of things.
Manual search finds lots of things.

Ergo, something is broken.

edit
Just tries on both my machines.
Version 6.5b6
Found about 20 articles on one machine, found none on the other, with the SAME version of NL (exact copies of each other, one is my backup).
Also tried the version 7b7 install I have and that found nothing.

Are they perhaps storing something at account level that indicates what/when the last search result was and prevents results being returned?

This keeps up and I'm cancelling and going back to Agent - at least I can set up filters to catch whatever I like with Agent.

I though i was the only one having this problem! I also am not getting any results through the superleech but if i do a manual search i get results.

I even tried resetting what the next episode should be, to make sure that wasn't the issue. This didn't help.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Why I believe my V7B7 NewsLeecher "SuperLeech"has still been working great since April 15th when V7B7 was released.

First I always log-on to the internet and turn on my VPN service. IPVanish and Private Internet Access are two fine VPN services. I then connect to the VPN's non US servers, usually Dutch, before I start NewsLeecher. All my Usenet providers are non US based also. I always find all the TV shows in my "SuperLeech" search list and all download and extract OK as soon as they are posted to Usenet. It could be that if your using NewsLeecher directly through your US based Internet Service Provider (ISP) they might be interfering with or blocking your Usenet searches since they can see all of your internet activity. With a reliable and secure VPN service your ISP does not see your internet activity due to the high level of encryption the VPN service provides between your computer and the remote Non US server you connect to. This has worked very well for me.

While some ISPs *may* be throttling or interfering with Usenet traffic (throttling has been shown to be far less common than most would believe), SuperSearch (and by extension SuperLeech) is not Usenet. Even if an ISP is throttling Usenet, SuperSearch is SSL HTTP, which would not be throttled and could not be analyzed by any ISP because it's encrypted.

Without a VPN your ISP will still know what IP your are connected to and from that they know the traffic is from Usenet.

I have been experiencing the same issue with superleech.

I have tried an older version, I have tried changing the search strings and still no go.

I am getting maybe 1 or 2 shows of the 60+ I have listed that are actually finding files.

The search strings I am using work fine and find the shows I am looking for when I use them in supersearch.

WTH!

Update,
It's now June and Newsleecher V7B7 is still working OK here.
I still have not missed anything in my SuperLeech Queue list
from downloading and extracting since my April 15th install
of V7B7. Everything Newsbin/SickRage found and downloaded
so did Newsleecher V7B7.
