Hi,

nice to the the dropdown error has been fixed.

One issue still is in B11:
When an article subject filter is selected from the drop down then the sort order is not maintained.

E.g.: I have articles sorted by age. Having ticked "show old" and selecting any subject article filter from the drop down results in the new headers being on top and then having the old headers below that in reverse order.

Only clicking two times on the "age" column recreates the correct sort order for all files.

Regards - Peter

PS: Hope to see the "Chage D/L folder" option coming back soon as well...

!!newsleecher download - do not delete -- nnnnnnnnnn!!

Post by elmariachi »

Sadly now this error turns up for me as well:

"..temporary downloading file could not be created!
!!newsleecher download - do not delete -- nnnnnnnnnn!!
"

I was using the 4 beta 10 without issues, after the upgrade I suddently cant download anything anymore. Instead the error pops up as soon as newsleecher tries to create a temporary downlaod file.

This is a show stopper! Please fix! ... pretty please :)

why do we have still no posibility, like in erlyer versions, to hide text and incomplete files?
is it so difficult, to bring back such a important thing?

new beta working well , downloads headers fine, no file corruption, no problems as of yet with temp files not being deleted

id like to mirror the above comment and ask for the return of hiding paused entries in que aswell

I also miss the change DL folder. Granted this is Beta software but to not mention in release notes..

im also getting a starnge pause when RnE is turned on. Most noticable when scroling through que. Every 5 secs or so i get a 1 sec pause. Que size is at around 290Gb and just short of 200k entries

Newsleecher is still best ive come across keep up the fine work

EDIT : - Anyone else having probs with modifier keys in this release? e.g. shift select

EDIT : - what happend to the que manager and the option to backup the que?

Also the sort order is lost when checking "Show Old"

Can I just repeat what I said earlier. This is the first time for a year or more that any NL beta has not paused whilst downloading. Please don't change this part of the program - I've ditched NewsBin again for now.....let me stay with NL!!

Best Regards

Same issue here and it's KILLING me. I use this feature a lot so this is a real inconvenience. Hopefully this is back in Beta 12...

most things seem to work

Well this beta was a huge improment. Dont have any lockups.

The problem I do have is newsleecher contantly pause saying it cant write fast enough to harddrive. With the old download system I never get any of these pauses. As it is now I use 5 connections at around 95Mbit/s.

"03:17:29 Warning! Slow Temp File Save :: Bytes Written: 386 000 :: Time: 286,9ms :: Per Sec: ~ 1,283 MB :: SaveThreadListCnt: 104
"

Beta 11 rocks! 10 was a complete loser on my machine, had to go back to 9.

Great work.

Some observations on that:

1.) It does'nt matter how much download-threads i'm running, i get the same results with 5, 10 and 50 connections (which i run normally).
2.) Article size matters, with really small (249.600 bytes for example) i get pausing errors, with bigger articles it gets better.

Sort order not restored after clearing filter

Post by tp92891 »

When having a sort active, after clearing the article subject filter the articles list becomes unsorted. Earlier in the 4.0 beta cycle this still worked; at least since beta 9 it no longer does.

Those "Newsleecher download - do not delete" files are a pain. Please revert back to the old way, or include a tweek not to have these files.
