8.0b4 What do EMPTY supersearch results mean?

Normally when a supersearch completes with no results, I see this (with or without the "Hide seen" box checked):
NoMatch.png
NoMatch.png (3.13 KiB) Viewed 7082 times
If only old results are returned and I check the "Hide seen" checkbox I see this:
NoNewMatch.png
NoNewMatch.png (7.28 KiB) Viewed 7082 times
But what does it mean when the search results window is simply completely EMPTY when the "Hide seen" box is NOT checked? If I check the "Hide seen" box, I get the "No new search matches" message shown above, and that seems to indicate that there ARE some matches that I have seen before.

So where are the matches? I have tried selecting, clicking, etc. within the search results and it seems to be utterly, completely EMPTY.
