Possible bug

Post by doppler »

This happened once and I didn't get a second chance to verify.

viewing
An article is RED incompletes in article. I did expand to find out what
was incomp'ed. Collapsed the view and Decided to down and repair
from par's later. The article was "not checked marked" in article view.
But was in the queue.

I did not reproduced this possible problem. Not because I tried, but I
did not come across another article to try.

Forgets sort order

Post by leifsjensen »

Introduced in beta9, Newsleecher "forgets" the sort column if you check "show old" in the Article View.

Same thing happens after clearing the "Quick Search" text-box

After installing b10, Update "all new headers" started to fetch ALL headers from all subscribed groups.

I closed Newsleecher and deleted the cache folder.
Restarted Newsleecher and tried to make a Update: Latest 1 header (catch up) and Newsleecher started to fetch ALL headers again.

Reinstalled beta9

The problem about neewsleecher pausing at fast download speeds is still there. It is even worse than ever pausing about every 10-20 seconds and the notification about writing to disc flickering on and off. So much for sorting the problem out. Have they tried it before actually realeasing the new beta. Anyway of turning off the notification about writing to disc?

Update-Tried downloading the files to a different location on my c-drive seems fine. downloaded the files to my original location which is a external 1TB hard drive and it went hay wire again. So to experiment i turned of real time scanning on my antivirus software to the original drive i download to, and it seems to be fine. Bit more testing yet..........changed my mind it is still the same. Cannot understand why it is such a problem. Other inferior progams have no problem writing to external drives such as altbinz why cant you sort this problem out. It seems the decoding process still can not keep up with the writing to disc. WONT BE RENEWING MY LICENSE.. :x

I/O Error 32

Post by kublai »

Is there a way to go back to the old method when downloading an article it saves it to memory first? I keep getting I/O Error 32 and it's causing my downloads to be incomplete. Also when this happen the filename does not get converted to Uppercase either but the file is corrupted when you run Quickpar on it.

Same here, a bug like this should never have made it online really. Regardless of what you do it always donwload all headers from all groups. On top of that it crashes left and right.

Oh, same if you use download last 100000 headers or whatever, it always gets all headers every time

I can update 1, 100, or any other option.

Here's an unofficial forum release of NewsLeecher, which fixes some of the bugs from the official beta 10 release:

http://www.newsleecher.com/nluft1.exe

!: Fixed bug introduced in beta 10, where a "Unknown Temp Folder"
dialog would sometimes popup when closing NewsLeecher.
!: Fixed bug introdiced in beta 10, where the 'Get Latest X Headers'
feature didn't work under certain circumstances.
!: Fixed bug introduced in beta 10, where the thumb preview panel
didn't work properly.

bug fixed. no idea how. hate it when that happens. trying to break it again now. will. not. be. defeated.

Something happened to the (un)pause feature in b10 and uft1, you can't unpause a set/thread if its files are set to paused...

The new download pattern is a great improvement, thanks a lot.

The only problem I see right now is that all writes are being done immediately, causing very high HDD thrashing. I am utilizing 20 bots, average speed 11MB/s. This causes a LOT of HDD activity.

Since you already implemented a memory buffer for uuEncoded files, would it be possible to get a nerdy tweak that lets us set up a global buffer? In my case a memory buffer of 50MB would greatly decrease HDD thrashing, making the system more responsive while something is being downloaded.

Got the same effect, it got alot worse than in b9 (which did'nt show alot of this pausing-issue on my system). It can't be the storage-device, because the one i'm using here is really fast enough...
