Re: What to do if SuperSearch seems to be down ?
I think SuperSearch's spam deletion has gone bezerk again. It still seems to be indexing, but a LOT of stuff from big posters isn't showing up.

Re: V7 Beta 8 triggers smartscreen filter
Half of these dumb "smart" programs trigger merely because the file is new or they haven't seen it before. Like Norton blocking files due to "WS Reputation"... basically, "we don't know what this is, and for no particular reason we won't let you run it".

The adult server is "up" but hasn't indexed anything in 3 days.

Re: SuperLeech still listing posts made yesterday
Yup, adult server has stopped indexing anything as of 3.0 days ago.
Remember, you can submit a BLANK search query and just get the most recent articles indexed... which shows there's a major problem.

Re: What to do if SuperSearch seems to be down ?
First... a lot of problem with VERY slow searches. I don't mean 30 seconds or something... I'm talking MINUTES long, while others come through instantly. Oddly enough, the searches DO seem to eventually complete.
Second... the Adult server isn't returning anything older than 36-37 days.

Suggestion for misnamed/broken file detection?
Many files posted are obfuscated. For example, an archive called "myfile.rar" might be posted as "138422.rar". Typically, the bundled PAR files reference the correct filename. So, 138422.par is intended to rename 138422.rar, 138422.r01 and so forth to myfile.rar, myfile.r01 and so forth, based solel...

Re: Beta 7: File associations gone
Maybe this is a regression. In one of the earlier unofficial forum releases of Beta 7, file associations changed so EVERYTHING would open with the default windows viewer for that file type. The problem is, if it was an unknown file extension (like an obfuscated text file description for a posting), ...

Re: spam flood groups with thousands of unuseful headers
Can't really blame NewsLeecher for article headers - they don't have control over what people post.
There isn't a way to forbid a poster in SuperSearch, but I don't see why adding maxgb:# to the search string wouldn't work for you.

Re: Astraweb is really sucking right now.
I tried Astraweb for the first time several months ago. Massive amount of incompletes. The worst usenet service I've ever used. Trying out Usenetserver now, so far so good. Really good speed and no problems with incomplete, going back 2400 days. Astraweb used to be pretty good, and at $96 for a yea...

Re: Auto Par2 Queue Handling cause par2 to be on separate li
Sure it does. I set NL to offline, queued up 6 Super Search items, and the individual .PAR2s were all moved up to the top of the list in a cluster, as expected (and has *always* happened since like version 4?). This is so the sets get added to the RnE queue right away (as described on the tooltip I ...

Re: Auto Par2 Queue Handling cause par2 to be on separate li
Typically when you're connected/online the PAR is downloaded instantly, so you'd never notice it up there.

Re: Auto Par2 Queue Handling cause par2 to be on separate li
See hover tooltip for "Auto PAR2 Queue Handling" option. It explains all this.
And yes, it's normal behavior... and Newsleecher has been doing this for pretty much as long as RnE has existed. But you've been here for even longer than me - how have you only *now* noticed?

Re: Usents' limits?
If I don't have the usenet unlimited service( been with NL for years @$2.99per mo) at what point am I limited? I do get usenet with the above but since I am getting "502 authentication failed" and all my passwords/usernames work, and I am current with billing, how much downloads do i get? I have ne...

Re: Astraweb is really sucking right now.
*Very* bad incompletes. LIke 2/3rds of all articles in the past few days (not takedowns). Switch from the EU to US servers (or vice versa) and you'll pick up a handful more articles, but just a handful... however SS indexing is complete, and my backup XS Usenet account has them all too, so it's just...
