nProtect (and other anti-piracy code problems)

Over the years i think i've had a few games that used nProtect that just didn't like Newsleecher and i've had to just live with it, normally by using grabit or other similar freeware. I think i even recall a couple of AV scanners that didnt like Newsleecher but i dont recall their names now. The AP ...

If it helps, I use Process Explorer instead of the normal Task Manager since it gives a lot more details. When downloading with NL, the majority of the CPU time was not the newsleecher.exe but instead something called Deferred Procedure Calls. The DPCs were 40-50% whereas the actual newsleecher.exe...

Still not working right Hi Nemon. Do you have NewsBin installed? If you have, could you try to load it up and see if you get better results (more consistent graph) by using the bandwidth limiter feature in that? Also 32% CPU usage on a A64 4000 is ridiculous for an app that is seriosly IO bound lik...

Yep, i also get INSANE CPU usage. Im downloading a DVD now and the CPU is constantly up over 50%.

NL really needs to re-write its IO system to make it more event based or something..? Anything above 5% is waay too much imho.

Limiting seems VERY smooth and precise here with 4 connections running. That's also with 3 of the 4 connections being on different servers, so seems to be working very well so far. Watching the speed realtime via DU meter, it jumps around a bit there, but no more than it did when I tried netlimiter...

I have antivirus but thats not it, confirmed with my repeat check just now. I have a router but i dont see how that would affect this if the sockets arnt being read when > data/sec limits. I am running XP x64 edition but i dont think that is likly the cause either. I susspect the bug is in the imple...

Still not working right http://nemon.terrorfaction.com/images/SNAG-0002.jpg Also i could be mistaken but even with "no limit" set i beleive there is more "turbulance" in the download. I recall checking the download chart in windows before while downloading using a pre 2.1 version and seeing a much f...

Oh, you need the meter showing.... I changed it in options.. I thought it was a bit awkward to use. I will try now. Ok yes i see it working now however it doesnt really work, the bandwidth used is still max it just seems to burst the download bit by bit. I get the same bizaar net graph as above. Not...

Results eldest first, bad idea.

When i'm searching for a new release and i dont know the exact name the results returned are eldest first and then they cut off. What this means is i search for "city" for example and i get a long list of old posts that match city and not the NEW release thats posted. This imho is a bug that needs f...

Yep, same problem. "Other" group returns no results.

On another note unrelated to this, i often find images/audio in other and likewise... Im presuming the content is based on the newsgroup.. Can this be alterd to take file extension into account too?

If you are still experiencing header / cache loss with NewsLeecher 1.0 beta 21 or above, please let me know.

Cheers
B22 clean install, looses all headers on program exit.

beta 20 partial download problem again (sorry) but more info

It apears the partial download problem is due to two things. 1) Crappy ISP news server that likes stalling connections. 2) In newer versions of newsleecher that seems to kill part of the download when it resets an idle connection. Beta 15 even under the most dire connection stalling problems seems t...
