Re: NL 7 beta 12 not responding

I couldn't even access the www.astraweb.com website so I am pretty sure it was a Astraweb or network issue. Everything is working now.

Re: NL 7 beta 12 not responding

Now getting same error after re-installing beta 10. Must be an Astraweb program. Sorry for the false alarm.

Re: NL 7 beta 12 not responding

The program opens ok, but as soon as I click on Super Search tab or select a newsgroup, it hangs.

NL 7 beta 12 not responding

I installed beta 12 over beta 10 which has been working fine for a long time. After first launch of beta 12, I successfully logged in with my password, and did a few searches. Then it hung. Had to kill program to exit. Now whenever I launch beta 12, I get "program not responding" upon startup and ha...

Re: beta 7Beta7 update cleared status field

I found downloaded.dat and downloaded.v2.dat in the data folder, and I attempted again to update from v6 to v8. This time I got a bug check so figured that the downloaded or downloaded.v2 files were corrupt after running beta version updates by me over last year or two. I deleted both downloaded.dat...

Re: beta 7Beta7 update cleared status field

I looked for it, but there is not even a folder for c:\John\AppData\Roaming\Newsleecher. Lots of other sub-folders in ...\Roaming but not Newsleecher. FYI, Newsleecher is installed in J:\Program Files not the C: drive. J:\Program Files\Newsleecher.ini contains these two statements: dataFolder=J:\Pro...

Re: beta 7Beta 8 update cleared status field

I tried updating from 7b6 to 7 beta 8. Same thing happened: All files previously marked "Downloaded" have been reset to "OK". So I have no idea what files I previously downloaded or not.

Will this be fixed in the final update? Or is there some way to preserve the status field when updating?

beta 7Beta7 update cleared status field

After updating from 7B6 to beta 7, I opened NL and retrieved new headers for a newsgroup. The STATUS field now shows "OK" for all articles/files and none of the articles I previously downloaded show "DOWNLOADED" for the status anymore. Is this intentional? Did this happen to anyone else? As a result...

Re: Lots of errors/bugs - beta 5 :-)

To make sure your group cache is 100% wiped, pls try downloading this test release and run the new cache wipe function to see if that helps : http://www.newsleecher.com/nl70006.ufr10.exe +: Implemented a function to completely reset the cached articles in all subscribed groups, in case they contain...

Re: Lots of errors/bugs - beta 5 :-)

I'm having the exact same problem too. But for me it only started after I switched from Giganews to Newsleecher's Ready-to-Go package (just added the usenet service) and had to redownload all headers. ab.teevee gets corrupted every time, no matter what I try. REALLY annoying. Spiril, try loading 90...

Yes that would be a good change to the software as well.

utility to scan/repair/fix corrupted NL database

If (when) the NL database and/or index files get corrupted, there appears that there is no way to scan and repair the files. There is no equivalent to "chkdsk c: /f" which repairs disk index errors, for example. Or other database scan & repair options. See thread: http://www.newsleecher.com/forum/vi...

Re: Lots of errors/bugs - beta 5 :-)

A simple backup would be fine with me, but what happens if or when the database files and indexes get corrupted or partially invalid? That's why I advocate some sort of utility to scan and repair if necessary the selected (or all) databases. If they are corrupted then it doesn't matter what version ...
