Re: Possible to extend MaxDays?

If you're talking about supersearch, you won't get any results older than this anyway. It searches newsleechers index, not your service provider.

Re: V7 Final - Chrashing when retrieving a large amount of headers

I am having the same issues, using Win 10 64-bit, with 32GB of RAM. Memory use climbs alarmingly when retrieving only hundreds of thousands of headers. And group load/unload times go through the roof too. Fortunately the new spammer is easily filterable. I added the following lines to the Subject fi...

Re: V7 Beta 8 - Repair/extract has memory issue

The ufr2 release does indeed appear to have fixed this issue. Thanks Spiril

I am also no longer seeing all the queue entries schanging status to 'initialising' and refreshing their stats every so often either.

Re: V7 Beta 8 - Repair/extract has memory issue

I am also seeing this. I found NL had frozen and was unresponsive twice before seeing this thread. I closed and restarted, and the initial memory use was shown as 120MB. There were 114 items in the queue from about 50MB to 2GB in size - ordered small to large. After the first 16 items had been downl...

Re: AV - False Positive

Webroot have apparently now fixed this: RE:False positive - nlpar.dll Hello, The newsleecher file was detected as the result of a false positive, and are not a threat. We have updated our security definitions to address this. You may un-quarantine and restore the file that was quarantined by the Web...

Re: AV - False Positive

Confirm that Webroot is quarantining this file. I uploaded it to Metascan online and 0/43 scan engines found a threat. I have reported this to WebRoot as a false positive.

Re: V7b5 Article view errors

OK, I renamed the Newsleecher folder (I have this in D:\ rather than c:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming as D is a TB RAID mirror and C: is a 128GB SSD, and I back it up each time I install a new NL Beta!) and set up a server/subscribed to e-books. It all seemed to work OK. I then fiddled with retention...

Re: V7b5 Article view errors

Whilst getting rid of the duff ones one by one in this way does work, there are so many of them that the quicker option is to clear the group cache. It's also not a 'fix'. NL reads and displays the headers just fine if the group is loaded and the error is only triggered by loading and unloading head...

Re: V7b5 Article view errors

Yes, I am seeing similar. In my case, this occurs after unloading a group then reloading it. Prior to unload, all articles were marked read. On reload, I got a messed up display, and also a bug report window which I believe to be due to trying to display unprintable characters. In the first screensh...

Re: Lots of errors/bugs - beta 5 :-)

Not true that the bug does not appear if you don't show old articles. For me, if I mark all articles I just loaded as read, unload a group that causes the problem, then reload it, upon reload a number of corrupt articles appear and the bug popup window too. I suspect that the cache being loaded gets...

Re: Lots of errors/bugs - beta 5 :-)

I have been seeing these too. They appear to be related to article cache corruption - if I clear the cache, reset the header count and get 1 day while the group is loaded and I'm viewing it, all the articles display correctly. If I get new headers then load/open a group I get errors for some groups....

Re: Startup oddness on news page

A quick clarification - when I say DPI scaling I'm talking about the Windows Display Control Panel setting. The NL Advanced Tweaks GUI Custom Scaling setting is 100.

Startup oddness on news page

If I start up newsleecher and it displays the news page initially (because I was on News & Log when I last exited), I have observed furious motion in the news column as if newsleecher is changing it's mind about whether to show the scroll bar and hence what word to wrap on, and constantly redrawing....

Re: 7.0 b1 encrypted files always downloading unecessary par

kublai this is true, it unpauses the biggest par2. However if there is a non-obfuscated download between the obfuscated thing you actually want, and the pars (which you sent to the bottom), R & E has the time to figure out it has all it needs, and will clean the unpaused par as well as the paused pa...
