newsleecher usenet service- some groups, header retrieval is extremely slow

Hello, I can get headers from some groups at basically industry-standard rates- 3mb-s to 15mbps, averaging at around maybe 6,5mpbs. For other groups, it never comes close to 1mpbs- it averages between 100kbps and 300kbps. What gives? Does NL or Highwinds throttle header retrieval for some groups?

Repair & Extract: Cannot Remove Selected

This is extremely annoying- when trying to remove something from the list, the message is "One or more of the sets could not be removed from the list. Make sure the sets are not actively being worked on (verified, repaired, etc.) before removing". I have all the RnE settings unchecked, and RnE is no...

So what is the official NL recommended approach for those of us who have Win64 machines? Is there ANY anti-virus software running on Win64 that NL doesn't have a problem with? Or is the official NL recommendation to disable all anti-virus software on our Win64 computers?

Mimo usenet client might be the someday in the future be the go-to news client. I don't think its development is just an occasional pass-time for the developers there.

You're lucky you got that far, Newsleecher usually doesn't run at all on Win7/64, in my experience. It's funny, I was going to buy a Mac, but I wanted to continue to use NL, so I got a Win7/64 laptop. Joke's on me.

Nope, right-clicking and selecting Run as Administrator didn't get around the problem.

It's actually the standard message you get in Vista or Windows 7 anytime you try to install new software. But I'm not trying to install newsleecher, I'm trying to just open it. It's not possible to do a print screen of it because it's Windows modal. Here's the text: User Account Control Do you want ...

So nobody else has this issue? This is happening on a stock Dell XPS studio 1645 laptop, brand new, with the only "modification" being windows 64bit ultimate. It's very frustrating, because even after Newsleecher is already open, even downloading an nzb from Newzbin, with Newsleecher as the default ...

"allow unknown publisher to make changes" alert, every time I open NL?

Hi, Windows 7 64 bit. Every time I open NL I get the unknown publisher trying to make changes to this computer popup. Very annoying, and all I can find is the option to lower the security setting system-wide- no option to ignore just NL. This has been occurring for the latest two NL beta releases (j...

No, that's not the same thing I was talking about. For a long time there was a setting that would hide the Connections panel only for the Explorer tab, regardless of whether or not the panel is set overall to be hidden/unhidden using the magnifying glass on the lower right corner, as you described. ...

Hi, I'm not sure if this setting still exists, and if it does, where it is located. I can't find it anywhere. Any help?

How to reset all settings and files, aka clean install

The last 4.0 alpha has completely screwed my settings to the point that I want to reset everything. So I uninstalled the alpha, deleted every NL related directory I could find, including the installation directory and the directory that is used for the settings files, then reinstalled the latest 4.0...

Just beware, doing this may purge all your groups, not just the one you selected- that's what it did for me.
