MIME Support

I know this has been requested for years. Would it be so hard to add support for MIME files? Most other major newsgroup readers support it.

I have to agree with your opinion that ss sucks as it stands. Not only does it return imcomplete results, but the inability to exclude posters on your ignore list is making it increasingly usesless as the amount of spam and infected files grows. Very frustrating.

As I just responded to another posting, ss is definitely not indexing everything. On more than one occasion I've requested that something be uploaded and been flamed because it had just been posted a couple weeks before.

I don't think this is a problem just with a.b.worms. I've found a number of instances in a variety of groups where known files are not found by supersearch. I don't have a handy example because I've stopped using supersearch much because of its weaknesses.

The problem seems to have cleared up when I turned on SSL. My understanding is that SSL is not compatible with Giganews Accelerator, which is why I didn't have SSL turned on. I'm happy that I can get my headers now, but it seems to me that the lack of SSL shouldn't cause header download to just stop...

I should mention that I use Geganews and that I don't have this problem with other newsgroup browsers, so it's not a Giganews problem. I really prefer Newsleecher, but if this doesn't clear up I'm going to have to switch, even thought I just renewed.

Bringing down new headers

I keep hoping this will get fixed, but ever since beta 1 when I try to update a group with a large number of new headers, say over 100,000, the update just dies. There's just no way to get all the new headers for large groups. Obviously this is a real showstopper for me. I also still hate, hate, hat...

Beta 3 - Not Much Improvement

I still don't like the way the article browser works. I don't want to have to double-click a group. Let us use the check boxes if we want to use them, but continue to single click a group so that it works the way it used to. In other words, make it work like Windows Explorer. The check boxes are the...

I don't like the new tabs either. They take up way too much space and don't add any real functionality. I really don't understand the purpose of any of the changes to the interface.

You might as well go and delete this post, too, since you can't take any criticism.

I also hate this new group browsing. I just don't understand the point of it. It is annoying to the max. At the very least give us the ability to turn this off and return to the old and much better way of browsing. :x

I've had 20 or more instances of standalone WinRar running without the degradation that NL causes. I find it hard to believe that more people aren't complaining. I've also complained about this a couple times without any response from the NL people. I should also have mentioned that I am not running...

Tremendous resource hog

I am finding all of the recent betas to be tremendous resource hogs. My computer is unusable during downloads. I have found this under both Vista and Win 7. I am currently running a clean installation of Win 7 on a 1.8ghz processor with 4gb of ram. It is not a question of fragmentation. I find this ...

Mouse unuseable under Win 7 NL 4 Betas 7 and 8

Ever since I installed Windows 7 I find that my mouse (any mouse) is virtually unuseable while I'm downloading files. It jerks all over the place and I have trouble getting it to go where I want. I was running NL Rel. 4 Beta 7 and tried upgrading to Beta 8 but get the same results. I used to be able...

Supersearch acting weird

Supersearch isn't down entirely for me. It will retrieve the headers I want, but I can't leech them. It insists that I'm running a trial version and that I must register. I AM registered. :x

Version 4 after Windows Update

I found version 4 to be extremely stable and error free until this week when there was a Windows Update of the .net framework. Now everything has gone to hell. I get constant error messages, the splash screen won't clear, the screen freezes up, and so on and so on. I sent a couple of the error messa...
