Check out http://www.cfos.de/speed/cfosspeed_e.htm

Traffix shapping for your PC - used it for years and the difference is massive. Newsgroups / torrents and browsing all working at the same time.

Just put browsing as high and p2p as low and it works great.

By using port 443 would you not look like your using a SSL website to your ISP?

I assume they can't tell the difference?

If its a bug with the posting software could newsleecher not save the "null" file with a .01 .02 .03, etc afterwards? You can then use quick par to fix. Although wise newsleecher will just keep overwriting the null file. This could be used by the dark side to corrupt lots of peoples downloads if the...

Look at it this way - newsleecher gets money from giganews for every person they bring to giganews. Hence giganews pay for the program for you.

Giganews doesn't pay newsleecher for people going back or already use the service.

Loads of companies do this.

Do you really want extra plug in for internet explorer? IE crashes enough as it is.

Seems that who ever posted it didn't use a format that newsleecher understands. Lots of mac stuff has these errors - some be some incompatible mac app out there.

Yes which means you have a crappy blueyonder news server. They were useless when I used them 7 years ago - god knows how bad they are now.

No point blaming nl - get a decent server.

You don't need any ports open to use the newsgroups - as per other p2p networks. Newsgroups are not p2p and do not contact other others on the internet.

Unless of course you one of the security mad type that also block outgoing traffic on there router (although doubt many people do).

Just remember though you get free newsleecher because newsleecher maker is getting what ever bonus for getting you to sign up.

If your friends signup with you as a referer then they don't get free newsleecher.

Theres no decent free servers. If there was they would be swamped and thus no-good.

Theres a few free text based ones but they don't contain any binaries (files).. I use http://www.usenetserver.com/index.html - cheap - only need to download an album and its paid for itself.

You haven't told newsleecher what news server you want to use.

Enter your server / login name and password.

I have saw something called "thinstall" mentioned loads of times on the internet lately. Theres a Office 2003 and Office 2007 version going around that runs straight from a single .exe files.

Have saw a newsleecher version also. No idea if it works - mostly likely very iffy.

What res are you running in?

Rockdock running at 1440 x 900 and it looks fine. There is an option for fast - try changing to High Qty.
