Re: Maximize header download speeds

This may also be an artifact that the server hardware does the compression at a much lower priority and you are actually waiting for the server side compression rather than anything else. After all, header compression was implemented to reduce data usage, rather than speed up downloads. Have you tri...

Destination Folder - Not all files moving

Before the new (and rather excellent, for the most part) destination folder system, all files with an NZB would be moved into the destination folder. However there are some issues (like TV Shows grabbed with Sick Beard) where only the main video file move across (no really such a bad thing but still...

Destination Folder - Filename length

You really need to add some sanitisation of directory/filename sizes.

Even adding to, say, h:\Download\<date><subject> you can end up with file system issues because the path and final file names are too long for NTFS. Perhaps this needs some re-thinking.

Date Field - Strange Choice

With the destination tag of Date/Time it seems strange that the field should be the Date and Time of the unpack (that's what filesystem Timestamps are for) - It would be far more useful for the post date/time (especially for repacks etc) to be used.

I use to find releases through the freee newzbin site, at the time, even though I could of downloaded the nzb. I would download headers. Then match them up with the .nfo file name to find what I was looking for. The problem is, now, that with so many take downs, you either need to look at all relea...

Different posters use different methods. Some keep a running number per posting, some use a hash on the release name. Some even do a hash of a running number. The only way to really find out scrambled posts is to download the first rar (hard, given that many make this harder by mis-numbering the pos...

Have you any idea of the work involved with this?

Also the legality of it. While SS can search on headers (nice and fast) if it had to download the posts to index what was inside par files or archives, it could be argued that the owners of SS are downloading illegal content.. Think about it..

Well if you knew where to find your releases, you wouldn't have the problem now, would you. The fault isn't found in NL, it finds exactly what you search for. NL isn't indexing releases, it is indexing what is posted. Your complaint is a bit like saying; "I know this girls name is 'Amanda' but when ...

I did think it was an oversight on my part - Thank you for the knowledge (and so pleased to see, after many years away from NL) that it's still going strong..

Love the new functionality, just wish the par2 verification was more 'stable'

Supersearch date/day range

It's all very well being able to limit a search by X days. However, what if you are looking for a wider search term but around a certain date?? For example; If I wanted to search for posts related to X but from 400 to 500 days ago.. Of course, I could just widen the search to 500 days but given this...
