SuperSearch has been down for 6-7 hours according to the the graph titled "Usage load over the last 24 hours time." Would someone please re-boot the system?

SuperSearch misses most of the .nfos

Please undo whatever caused SS to become blind to .nfos ".nfo Group:alt.binaries.hdtv.x264 MaxDays:10" finds no results (which is very wrong) ".nfo MaxDays:10" returns only 200 nfos from the last 10 days of all of usenet . Worse, the inclusion ".nfo" in a boolean 'OR' statement causes SuperSearch to...

Re: Crash updating groups

I would create a support ticket, scuba, except I can't reproduce the problem now. Auto-Update is working fine again. It's anyone's guess what happened. :?

Re: Crash updating groups

This problem occurred today (March 20). NL became unresponsive while auto-updating groups. I force-closed and re-launched NL three times as the problem repeated. During the last instance, I noticed that NL was attempting to update a.b.teevee when it became unresponsive. (It loaded the group but down...

Re: 64-bit version of Newsleecher

Oh, yes please! It's discouraging to see NL suffer out-of-memory errors while ignoring massive amounts of unused memory.

Re: Group not updating like it used to do

I assume we're talking about the poster that floods the log with lines that read, "Skipping article as is contains too many article parts."? Newsleecher hangs soon afterwards? I was searching for a way to force NL to use more of my PC's memory, but it seems I was looking for the wrong solution. This...

Re: How to assign more RAM & CPU to NL

kteague, thank you for giving so much of your time to write that reply. At your suggestion, I played with both those approaches. Sadly, they don't help NL. It stubbornly refuses to use more than 15-20% of CPU and 4GB of memory. I had hoped to force NL to utilize more CPU & RAM, but perhaps the limit...

How to assign more RAM & CPU to NL

Can I force Newsleecher to use more of the generous CPU & RAM resources available to it? NL poorly handles my large newsgroups, throwing out memory errors and bottlenecking during header downloads. Meanwhile, 20 GB available RAM sits there begginging for NL to use it. Total CPU use stays under 20% d...

Re: How to Turn ON again the "Last 10 Searches" Window?

For God's sake, "H" key on keyboard? Really? With no clues at all?... For us accidentally press the H key and not know how to turn on the screen again? Pfff... Why the interface doesn't has a icon to do so? That's always been a weakness of Newsleecher, and I've been using it since 2005. There's nev...

Re: NL Temporarily paused while writing downloaded data to

Thanks raffles for that idea. I was forced to return to Beta 4 today, but I'll probably try the unofficial beta 8 soon.

(for NL developers, Beta 5, 6, and 7 were all unusable because of the permanent "Temporarily paused" loops.)

Re: NL Temporarily paused while writing downloaded data to

I finally updated to v7 beta 7 yesterday. Exact same issue. "Temporarily paused while writing downloaded data to storage device" Something triggers that state and and NL sticks there. The only way to close NL is a forced close via Task Manager. BTW, the message is not triggered because of a true bac...

FWIW, I compiled some of the shortcuts by copying & pasting from the series 5 release notes. Incomplete, but it's a start: SuperSearch TAB navigation shortcuts: The Ctrl+T keyboard shortcut, can now be used to create a new SuperSearch search tab. The Ctrl+W or Ctrl+F4 keyboard shortcuts, can now be ...

List of Keyboard Shortcuts / Hotkeys

Can someone point me to a list of keyboard shortcuts in NewsLeecher? I've searched all over the place and only found random mentions here or there, either in forum posts or version release notes. Thanks in advance.

I'm fortunate to have two ISPs. I switched over to the other ISP, and the result was identical: creeping headers. So it's unlikely due to traffic shaping. That was yesterday. Today, for the moment, header speed is mostly staying in the 400 to 460 KB/s range, with some dips to the 200's and 300's. Fa...

Good questions. Timeouts/reconnects happen occasionally... every 4 -6 hours? Connections are quickly re-established. It's never been frequent enough for me to consider it a problem. I'm using AT&T DSL for ISP. Fortunately, we've got a Comcast cable connection, too. I'll switch over later to see whet...
