Command line action problems

Using V8 beta4: 1) There should be a way to have a persistent command line program set up. Currently, you have to enable it at each download, it gets old. 2) %nl_default_download_folder% sends literally A:\a.b.h\<NAME>\" without substituting <NAME>, which is useless 3) %nl_current_folder% sends C:\U...

Re: Downloading to a subfolder with NL8?

I found an old post that gives the solution: use the <NAME> tag. NL7 was using <NZB NAME>, I could not guess the change...

Consider this thread closed, I hope it will be helpful for others.

An humble request: please use modern import NZB dialog

NL7 uses the new directory dialog will all your favorites to import an NBZ file.

NL8 reverted for that to the old XP dialog. I'm sure it's just an oversight, it would be nice using the new dialog to go into the todo list.

Downloading to a subfolder with NL8?

Hi, With NL7, it's possible to set it so that importing a {name}.nzb file downloads into {download default folder}/{name}. I could not find a way to do that with NL8, it always download into {download default folder}. Am I missing something obvious, or is it a feature not yet implemented in the beta...

Re: nl_setup_80004 cannot be used with MulltiPAR

Let me know if you get an answer (and a fix!), thanks.
NL developer has been aware of this problem for more than one year, and never bothered to fix it. Since that does not happen with NL7, NL8 is locking files without any valid reason.

newsleecher 7 set to pause xx minutes pauses forever

I *think* it happened after I installed V8 beta4 on a different folder, but now, if I pause NL for 10 minutes for example, I don't see the countdown and it stay paused forever. Edit: I have installed on 2 PCs (one is a backup, I use it only on one at a time), and that does not happen on the second P...

nl_setup_80004 cannot be used with MulltiPAR

This is a bug that exists from V8 beta1: if you try to to use MUltiPAR while downloading, you get a message that files in "!! newsleecher temporary !!" cannot been accessed because they are owned by another process. MUltiPAR is the fastest PAR software, and allows to lauch a script on completion whi...

8.02: One remark, and one critical bug

Hi, Thanks for releasing the beta 2 of Newsleecher 8, I was losing hope, :) One remark, and one critical bug: - In destination folder, you're missing the very important tag: <NZB Name> - I can't use an external RAR program, such as Multipar. When I try, I get each time: news.jpg Multipar allows for ...

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

No we do not make more alpha test releases - the new beta will be on website soon. soon suːn/ adverb adverb: soon; comparative adverb: sooner; superlative adverb: soonest 1. in or after a short time. This post will be soon 3 month old, it seems that the word "soon" does not have the same meaning fo...

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

Yes Version 8 is fast ...but you should use whatever application you like most and fit your needs. Hi scuba, Newsleecher is by a wide margin the best app in terms of GUI and usability. Kudos to the developers, every other Usenet client looks clumsy in comparison. Its only drawback is (was?) speed. ...

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

Just a quick update to let you know that the first beta of NewsLeecher V8 will be out within the next week or two. Besides a completely rewritten leeching engine, that can dramatically improve the download performance for users with very fast Internet connections, NewsLeecher V8 also features an al...

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

I switched to NZBGet, using Newsleecher to create NZBs when needed.

I was tired to wait I must say. I get now up to 800 Mbs instead of 240 with Newsleecher, and with a fraction of the disk load.

8 will come when it will, if ever, I'm happy at the moment.

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

It's been a long time since this first alpha V8 version, any info on a new version that would be usable?
