Oleaut32.dll not found

Upon installing the last beta, my machine will not run NL. I says it cannot find oleaut32.dll. The file exists, I have even downloaded a fresh one from MS and it still won't run. Uninstall and re-installation on NL does no good to solve the problem.

No one else is seeing this error?

TIA

I have the same issue only mine is with another machine on the network picking up everything in the que and trying to get them again. The things in common are they use the same download directory (which is not on C: or the system drive) and they are on the same network. I haven't found a way around ...

Thanks for the tip about 7-Zip. I have long suffered from this problem. I have found that extracting to a very short folder name, one off the root, is about the only way I can get around it. Also creating my own NZB files to download with shorter names helps. I will give the 7-Zip a try.

Too Many Connections

I don't know why people use so many connections. I have tested and my best "Acquisition Rate" or the amount of data I actually bank is between 5 and 9 connections. There are also limits with Windows as to how many half connections you are capable of having at one time. Drop your connection count dow...

Database repair

Does NL do any database repair? I am wondering if that is the cause of problems with NL locking up or seeming too. Is there a way to force database repair at a time when you are not actively using NL? I take a lot of large groups, and the database files have to be huge and need attention from all th...

Re: router needs to reset after downloading to be full speed again

I have the same issues using a Netopia business class modem from Att. It will just continue slowing down till I reset it (usually I have to pull the power as well as use the off switch.) I have another modem to try, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. When I get it in, I will report back if it ma...

Verify existing files and not download them again

I would like NL to check the files when it finds a previous folder and only download the files needed to complete the folder (provided they were on the server to begin with of course.) So many times I download the same thing that I have. It was just posted by someone else and so NL does not alert me...

Nothing but Crashes in the latest beta

I have never had this much trouble with NL and I have been around for a while. It is constantly crashing a Win7 Home X86-64 Toshiba AIO. It will run for a bit, the freeze up solid. Windows can kill it and continue and you can re-open NL immediately and it may run another while. There doesn't seem to...

NL won't start - OLEAUT32.DLL

I installed the latest beta over a working copy of NL and now I get "Can't find oleaut32.dll" I have tried putting it in NL directory Windows, pretty much every directory that a program might call upon has that file. I even tried a new copy of the file and still no go. This is on an HP laptop runnin...

Re: Long Path Tool

I had the similar problem and faced it a lot of times. I often solve this type of problems using "Long Path Tool". Try it and it may surely help you. I looked around for that tool and it took to some relatively malicious sites. If you have used something and it works in the background, I am sure a ...

Long File Names

Definitely a pain in the butt. I get around it by creating an NZB of the files I want and then feeding that to NL. Also put your "Downloads" directory just below the root (c:\downloads). The path adds into this problem, so if you put the "Downloads" directory 4 deep from the root, then those path ch...

Super Search Rebuild #947

Another rebuild of Super Search. I can't search a darn thing that I have successfully searched before. I am all for progress so long as you don't lose the functionality or task the program is too provide. If I just lost 700 days from Super Search, then I am one unhappy customer. Even if it rebuilds ...

Path length for downloaded article is too long

This has plagued us for a while. I don't know why people insist on posting their life history in the post name, but they do and then we can't get them. It seems I have gotten around this before, in some cases, by creating an NZB file of the file selection and then loading it. I can't get that to wor...

I see that beta 20 has a manner of choosing what files NL will use when it loads its configutation. Now if we could just figure out where all those files are or how we direct it to use files that we know the location of. I wouldn't know how to restore from backup as I don't know where the files are....

windows explorer wont read anything over 255 characters so whats the point of adding it ? yes i know you can use 3rd party programs to read it but how much of the userbase does? I am aware of the limitations on file names in Win32. I don't think that exists in Win64 (though I have not tried to put ...
