Sunuvagun. It worked.

Well, you saved me a lot of money. My next step would be to trash the laptop and buy a new one. I owe you.

HELP! Can't get rid of this message: Newsleecher has disconnected, because a temporary download file..."

I was on NL 7 Beta 10 which had been working fine since December, this started today. I getting the message shown in the picture below whenever I try to update any newsgroups. I tried everything to get around it. Clear the groups cache, close and reopen NL, even restart the laptop. Then I uninstalle...

Re: 7.0 beta 10 startup taking a long time

Hey, Tuinpad, about #1, the slapping sound you just heard was me smacking my forehead, saying "why didn't I think of that?" I'll try when I get home. Thanks for the heads-up about splashscreen = false, although I hope #1 works. I kinda like the splashscreen. =D>

7.0 beta 10 startup taking a long time

I installed 7.0 beta 10 a few days after it went live in December. For the first couple of months all was well. Starting maybe 3 weeks ago it takes 30 or more seconds between when the splash screen comes up and the wings bounce down. The splash screen is in front and covers everything, can't do anyt...

Re: Version 7 beta 2 - extract folder problems still

Not sure what you mean, Barrie1972. I've only been using Supersearch, and the files end up in the Extracted default folder when I do Leech Specify to a different folder.

This problem is so bad for me that I'll be reverting back to 5.0 final until it's fixed.

Re: Version 7 beta 2 - extract folder problems still

I'm seeing exactly the same problem, both in beta 1 and beta 2. I specify a specific folder for download for a large file. (Leech Specify or Ctrl-Y). I want to download it to a folder in external drive G:. No matter how I fill in the dialog, it gets extracted to my default extraction folder on the C...

Problem with Watchdog

I'm a long-time user, but I haven't posted here in a while because NL has been nice and stable for me. The problem is I don't know what Watchdog is but I keep getting "Watchdog hasn't spotted any new articles" messages when I try to update a search. Now it's true that the search might not have found...

Are you a school teacher? You sound like one. "If not, why not!" "Compare and contrast." My high school English teacher used those all the time. :D They've been talking about putting together a user manual since 2005. I get the sense that time is limited for the folks here and they find upgrading th...

Hey, BoneLeech. I don't remember how 4.0 worked, so I can't commiserate with you. I have two batches of groups that I browse, the music batch and the models batch. In manager I made two virtual groups in the Manager tab, and moved the groups into the two virtual groups. Now I can update all of the m...

Too many files are dated zero days.

I think this is a problem with the erotica side only, not sure about the general side (I don't do this type of search on it). Normally when I do a search for all files over 3GB over the last day (minkb:3000000 maxdays:1) I'll get a few dozen files. Today it maxed out at 408 files, and all 408 of the...

Zipbuff too short error

I have a Win8 4GB laptop system (using only the desktop, no apps) with Newsleecher 6.0 beta 2. I'm a long-time user (since 2006). A couple of times this morning while updating articles (Article tab/ right click / update groups) I got an error box I've never seen that said "506 Zipbuff too short". In...

What's a little annoying is that the Services Status page still indicates that everything's okay. This indicates to me that the administrators still aren't aware of the problem. Anyone know their home phone numbers?

Ha! I have the same problem. First thing I did was go to the support page and sent a well-considered message. Maybe I should have come here first. I think the service has been remarkably stable for some time, so I'll give the folks a pass if they can fix it soon. I really wish that on the members pa...
