You are Open ing files instead of Leech ing them. Leech is Ctrl+D or Spacebar, it downloads items to the correct folders. Open is Ctrl+R or Enter, it downloads to a temp folder and then opens/executes/runs the file. When your MKV file opened in notepad, that's most likely caused by an improper file ...

I noticed in this beta the Unread Article Count column was removed from the Group Manager tab. It wasn't working in previous betas anyway, is there a technical reason why it's not shown anymore? This was a useful bit of information in 3.9x for me.

OK, I see what you're saying. I misunderstood your first post. I was thinking of the setting the maximum number of headers to retrieve on updates, not the maximum days before cleanup. There is a work-around for the out of memory bug in 3.9x. Win XP x64 solved the problem for me, after multiple forma...

Try pressing Ctrl+U first, to unload any groups from memory. If it still doesn't work you can delete the cache files manually (group.name.nc1 and .nc2 in pre 4.0, and group.name.nlc, .nli, and .nlm in 4.0+).

You could achieve the same result with the existing filter boxes. Put a - before the search term to exclude matches from the article list.

FYI: Some applications/games *require* you to have a swap file, regardless of how much RAM you have.

There's no reason to have that on a per-group basis. If for example you run out of memory at 10 million headers, it doesn't matter what group you're updating, 10 million is your limit.

You can't use the old settings or cache files (3.9x) with the new beta (4.0+).

When updating headers on two of my groups I get errors in the log after completion, and then attempting to load that group gives an "Out of Memory" (8nn33) error and displays no articles. The errors in the log look like: 12:31:24 AM !!!!!!!!!!!!!! FindPartNr Error on ... With ... replaced with an ar...

Are you still using version 3.9x? So far it seems this has been fixed in 4.0. If you want to stick with 3.9x, I found a workaround quite some time ago. When I used XP x64, I could download any size groups in Newsleecher with no problems. Even though Newsleecher was still a 32-bit program, using XP x...

Re: not having this problem

Smudge, am I wrong about that? Does SS have anything to do with a post being complete or or not? If SuperSearch thinks a post is incomplete, it will not be able to tell NewsLeecher what articles to download that make up that post. It doesn't matter if the post is complete or incomplete on your spec...

Disk space !!!!!! Should not have to band-aid the software when all previous versions worked correctly ........ I subscribe to a LOT of groups ... I cannot use the new beta because I cannot delete headers to make more disk space available .... It's still in beta. It's a completely new cache format,...

It's 100% sure not my servers completion. As I wrote with other searchengines like Binsearch all is complete . Free searchengines show 100% completion. -> Download without single broken file. SS shows about 80% completion. -> 20% blocks missing when downloading. So the problem is with SS not with m...

Most of the files are missing about 20%

When using a free searchengine all files are ok.

This is more than likely due to your servers completion. It's just missing some articles that make up the file.
