Spoke too early. The speed soon dropped back down and stayed there, ranging 18 KB/s to 30 KB/s.

Switching to the EU server bumped header download speed to an average of 32 KB/s, still woefully inadequate. Just to be clear, my internet connection is fine, and binaries will download at full speed. The headers are oozing as slow as molasses. Edit: $%*#. changing the server wiped out the pointers ...

Re: Don't Know Why, But this from Support made the difference

"Me too." Avg header download speed is 10 - 14 KB/s, for the last 2 or 3 days. Actual file downloads are as speedy as ever. I'll try a different server, as suggested by shadowman, and report back.

Thanks for replying. I'll try to get used to the v4 view but may have to return to v3.9. The expanded, non-collapsed format helps me visually, to quickly separate crap from quality.

The performance improvements in v4 are lovely, but (for me, anyway) might not be worth the loss of the long list view.

If there is no option to revert to v3.9's appearance, is there at least a way to *manually* expand all the collections in a given listview window? So far I can only expand one collection at a time, click by click. Surely there is some sort of key combination to expand/collapse collections, right? So...

Although the search function is down at the moment, and yes I am momentarily inconvenienced, I commend the newsleecher owners/operators for relatively high reliability. Sure, Google has the resources for uptime 24/7/365, but Newsleecher's downtimes are infrequent and brief enough that I still have a...

Text filter & binary filter definitions in 3.9 Final?

The other filter options were moved from the options dialogue to a drop-down menu on the Articles page. Is there still a method to edit our text filter & binary filter definitions? Perhaps by editing a data/config file somewhere? :?
