For example, the search field would be "The Royal mindays:500" and the Max Days pulldown to 700. You could also add maxdays:700 which will override the pulldown menu setting. Yep that did work for me, it would be handy if that could be incorporated in some way in a friendly way maybe drop down menu...

Backing up ALL data, in case of hdd failure

I have 2 versions of NL that i have installed on the same machine, one is 2.3Final which i only use to update groups as i have not worked out how to use groups/headers yet in version 5.0 Beta 16. I also use a bit of software called Ark Backup to back up various files and settings on a daily basis (m...

Re: I might try ssupersearch again now the matrix is dead.

Is it reliable and easy to use? Can't comment on how reliable it is just resigned up, but it is simple to use the problem you will have is if your looking for something called "<edited - read forum policy>" and the poster only labeled the upload or files themself something like "<edited - read foru...

Search between set number of days

I think the answer is no but is there anyway to make SS search between a set number of days for example between 500 and 700 days?

Reason for asking is trying to look for something called "The Royal" but anything over 100 days just gives me too many hits, i'm running v5.0 Beta 16.

Saving to folder with same name as nzb file

I can't believe i'm asking this it seems such a newbie question.

I'm sure i used to have NL set up to save to the same name as the nzb file, but after a recent format i can't seem to get this going again, can anyone let me know how to do it again please.

No you cannot run multiple NewsLeechers at the same time. The configuration file hack is so that you can have multiple versions installed so you can test beta versions without touching your final version configuration files. OK thanks Smudge, no worries thanks for putting me right on this one. All1

but it's still the most complete and solid news software available I'd have to agree I've playedwith many and always come back to NL (even if it is old version i use 2.3 Final) maybe look at going back in version (if that can be done) new is not always best IMO. Also, i agree with the previous post...

There has never been a maximum amount of headers that newsleecher will grab; if you set it to grab all the headers, it will. I think the 4 million limit you're referring to was a limit that newshosting had set up on their server. They'd only keep the 4 million neweest headers of each group. I'm pre...

4M headers still the max

I was under the impression that NL would only be able to grab 4 million headers and it would ignore the rest (a.b.tv has 8M on my server) is this right or have i got it wrong, i'm still using 2.3Final.

Well ... What do you expect me say? - "Yes, you're right allooneword, I could easily raise the SuperSearch retention and keep compatibility with older versions of NewsLeecher intact. But, just to annoy you, I chose not to!" Did i say that? NO.. What I'm saying is I doubt if it would have bee...
