Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

The socket communication and the article decoder part of the new download engine, is multi-threaded in V8. But there's still only a single thread reserved for disk writing, because, as you say, sequential writing probably results in better throughput than parallel. If you have a reasonable fast com...

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

Following the previous post advice, I changed the default download directory, and that cleared the bug, even when going back to the first directory. I'm getting the following speeds, depending on the drive I download to: - Regular 2TB drive, rated by CrystalDiskMark at 172MB/S write speed: 250 Mb/s ...

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

The UI is a work-in-progress at this stage. I plan on implementing a custom icon skinning system later on. Personally I like the flat vector based gfx style. Also vector based graphics isn't just a random gfx trend. It's really the best way to go, to make UIs scale properly on high DPI displays. Bi...

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

Thanks a lot. First glance: - Flat design. What the hell?? It's not because Microsoft developers have gone blind that ISV must follow suit. It's awful!! - I use a high dpi screen (2560x1600) which requires 135% magnifying. With these settings, everything it too big within Newsleecher, and some text ...

Re: Decoy's being posted???

I've seen this case as well. I don't bother attempting to follow links to promised passwords. The NL 7 will now report RAR in RAR files so that the download can be cancelled. I meant that the files you described here downloaded fine for me, and were not full of zeros, and that their content was a R...

Re: Decoy's being posted???

That's a RAR in RAR in RAR, with the third level being passworded and asking you to go to a shady site. Somebody is baiting people...

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

Yes, at the moment I'm using Newsleecher search (and service), and then export the NZB to download with Newsbin at twice the speed.

You guys did a wonderful job with the UI and Supersearch, which are vastly superior to the competition, but you do need to acknowledge and fix the speed issue!

Re: Is Newsleecher slower?

Check this thread where I started to post about that too:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26525

It's the Newsleecher 7 client that slows with SSL, as other have confirmed. The service itself seems to go up to 500 Mbs when I use Newsbin 6 instead of Newsleecher 7.

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

Just made a try with my Newsleecher account and 30 bots with 2 clients:

- Using the Newsleecher client, I got 220 Mbs.

- Using Newsbin pro 6.70, 480 Mbs.

Clearly, Newsleecher 7.0 has a problem with SSL and very fast connections.

Re: SSL is slower than non-SSL

Yeah, same here. SSL maxes at 200, non SSL at 380 with a 920/240 connection.

Is Newsleecher slower?

Hi, I'm lucky enough to have a Gigabit fiber connection. Speedtest reports a 920/240 speed! The max I ever got with Newsleecher has been 380 Mbs, with 30 connections. Downloads from some filesharing servers using Internet Download Manager can reach 800 Mbs. That goes as high with Newsleecher only if...

Show Prior Matches turns itself on

Hi,

Using beta 13 (and priors ones too) I noticed a (very) small inconvenience: if you select an entry in the "Recent Searches" and use the right click menu to delete it, the "Show Prior Matches" field turns itself on.

I have to reset it every time I delete an entry.
