Auto-sort of articles not occuring when no new headers are found

Not sure if this has been reported before, but it's still present in beta5. If I open a group for which there are no new headers to download, the Articles window is not displayed using the sort-column that I had previously chosen (usually age). The column header still has the small arrow next to it ...

Some auto-hide GNP comments for Spiril

The auto-hide GNP feature, as it stands in b5, is somewhat worse than before because it now pops up infuriatingly whenever I stray too far to the left with my mouse. So, as a usable compromise solution, I would suggest simply using a normal "click to open" system. The panel should then re-hide itsel...

Recent history dropdown list for regularly-used download folders

I normally select files for downloading using Control+Y and then specify the folder that I want to store these particular files in. I guess I have about seven or eight folders that I regularly use - e.g. Video, Audio, TV and some subfolders for common recurring postings. Nothing directly related to ...

New'days old' format in Articles screen is much harder to use

The new 'days old' numbering format (using various changing d, h and m values) is much harder to read than the old format. Once you get to less than 1d, the numbers go back 'up' to 23h - which make it far less easy to see at a quick glance which articles are older. The previous system was very usefu...

Just downloaded beta3. I generally like the look and feel of the new interafce but I totally agree with all the comments here about the missing drop-down newsgroups list. I always used that drop-down to quickly switch between active groups, and it's a real pain not being able to do so now. I may rev...

Why not use toggleable buttons, so you can select several options for one search? That would give the best of both worlds. e.g. if you select both the Audio and Pictures icons, the search would return any files in either the audio or pictures categoies. You could even add a few catagories that way, ...

I've just downloaded the "test2" version and it also asks for, but won't resognise, my registration key. I re-installed 2.1b2 and it works fine again. The registration key I'm using is the one that was emailed to me on 20/02/2005, which has worked fine on all recent betas up to now.

Many thanks. Another possibilty to add to a killfile management facility would be an expiry option. Many posters use pretty random fake names, so it's often pointless keeping some old entries in the killfile for ages. Maybe when the kill dialog pops up it could also include a "retain entry for [xxx]...

It'd be handy if Newsleecher reported such errors in some way other than just mentioning in the logfile that the file was skipped. Unless you happen to check the logfile every session you'll just see the "Downloaded" field in the newsgroup messages display, or see that the file has vanished from the...

Thanks for the killfile option, it works very well. I've been meaning to ask this for a while though... any chance you could implement a quick shortcut way to add the current poster or subjectline to the killfile, rather than having to cut/paste into the Options list? I'd suggest something along the...

"Unknown encoded article format" (downloads fine v

A number of files (all posted by the same user as far as I can see) will download fine via Newsleecher, but once completed, even though Newsleecher reports them as "Downloaded", the file is not decoded into the destination directory. The Newsleecher log shows: 04/11/2004 12:10:49 * Article skipped. ...

Killfile?

Is there a facility to killfile (plonk) a poster? A few of the binary groups I monitor are often flooded with massive posts which I have no interest in (mostly Dutch, in fact). On my other newsreader I simply hit the "K" key whenever I see one of these floods appearing, and all future posts from tha...
