will full upper/lower-case support ever return?

Post by p0W3Rh0u5e » Fri Mar 02, 2007 5:25 pm

Topic says all...

When SS switched to lower-case only, it has been said this will only be a temporary thing, but it never changed back.

Not a single answer in 2 weeks, thanks. :(

I never understood the move to lowercase only or why it never changed back...

I assume, nothing will happen here. So its just another "not so perfect/could be better" part of NL.

I also agree that SuperSearch not converting all results to lowercase would be a good thing, but as this is probably how they're now stored on the server, I doubt we'll see any changes anytime soon. Who knows.

Surprise, surprise... It changed back today, i'm getting case-sensitive search-results now, even for very old stuff.

Very nice, thanks.

Yep, mixed lettercasing has been enabled again.

*But* it puts quite a lot of extra stress on the SS service, and the current retention bumping is also putting additional stress on the service, so I might have to lowercase the headers again until we've made one more hardware upgrade to SS. We'll see how it works out during the week.

No matter what, proper lettercasing will be permanent for SS after the next hardware upgrade. Aswell as 140+ days retention.
bug fixed. no idea how. hate it when that happens. trying to break it again now. will. not. be. defeated.

Me too, hopefully the hardware upgrades will go well. :(

It's been 2 months since this thread was started and there's still no uppercase. Surely with the amount of revenue this program has to be generating, you should be able to do the necessary hardware upgrade to get this thing back to the way it should be. Come on Spiril.

This facility is essential. Please introduce upper-case header text or refund me my money. Entirely lower case is not satisfactory.

Just a quick update to let you know that mixed-lettercase results will be available with the next NewsLeecher release.
