Not sure what happened there but both are responding and back up to their regular retention levels.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Not working

Post by Robinson »

As of last night, my SS isn't working. I'm awaiting response for a good 5 minutes and then I get an error box, "Unable to receive reply from the SuperSearch service". Strangely, it says, "Reason: You pressed the SuperSearch "Stop" button (I didn't!). Ordinary groups work ok however.

If it is still happening, most likely something is blocking the connection on your system. Often this is due to antivirus software getting an update and changing the access settings. Avast does this all the time.

Yeah, it's down for me too. I can't wait to hear from the wonderful newsleecher support team on exactly what went wrong and what they did/are doing/will do in the future to fix it.

Oh wait. That will never happen.

Yeah SS stopped indexing many hours ago , and so far no word or response as to whether they are aware of it or if it's being looked at / fixed.

I'm thinking of moving to Usenet Explorer after my subscription expires here.
I've checked their forum for Search problems and when there are some (very infrequently) you get a response in a matter of minutes.

I am thinking of terminating newsleecher too.. to many ss faults lately and ss is the ONLY reason i still use NL..

edit.: at least you guys should have he balls to tell us useres, when ss doesnt work..

ps.: and use the frigging "News" option to do so..
