Too long NL generated folder names and failed downloads

Post by thisizit » Fri Sep 23, 2011 12:04 am

Using the leech "smart" (...), NL generates a folder name with the first header.
Numerous posts nowadays use very long headers, often doubling the information.
If the folder generated by NL reaches a certain lengh, NL cannot handle it anymore. It downloads each article in the temp folder, then cannot write the file in its folder, leading to bloated temp folders, that are cleared upon NL exit, leading to the disappearance of the download.
A simple algorithm erasing the duplicate chains in the header, when they exist, then cutting the rest BEFORE the folder name generates a NL BUGGY behaviour would be easy, solve a lot of failed dls, and avoid an amount of unuseful work (renaming the long folders manually is tedious, especially as it's impossible to determine the critical lengh).
XP32 sp3.
This very faulty implementation of folder name creation should also account for a reasonnable number of cases of : "BUG: Articles "Hang" in Transfer Queue."
