I think the problem of Version 7/7 got rectified on Sunday the 23rd. As things were pretty quiet, I completely deleted Newsleecher plus the appdata folders and re-installed from scratch. I had some settings that I had saved i.e. Bookmarks and the whole time of re-installing was 2hrs of my time.
I can honestly say, that things have being pretty good, no glitches etc. I caught up with what was required and things downloaded superb.
Looking back, I wish that I had done it a lot earlier and saved myself some grief. In conjunction with Windows 10, it is superb.
It is now 2 days and no problems.

I now think that is was the data within appdata that was causing the grief, as it contained old commands with previous versions which was interfering with the newer versions, i.e. version 6 mixing it up with version 7.

I had this problem and it's been driving me bonkers. Clean install of Windows 10. Newsleecher 7/7.

I uninstalled it all, deleted the folder in AppData, re-installed it and now everything works perfectly.

I tried all the other options and got nowhere until at the bottom I saw the above. So now, I don't bother with the other options for setting defaults.

That worked for me too. :)
