Is Newsleecher slower?

Post by robena »

Hi,

I'm lucky enough to have a Gigabit fiber connection. Speedtest reports a 920/240 speed!

The max I ever got with Newsleecher has been 380 Mbs, with 30 connections. Downloads from some filesharing servers using Internet Download Manager can reach 800 Mbs.

That goes as high with Newsleecher only if I use a RAID 500 MBs fast drive. With a standalone drive, the speed is much slower, so I guess the limit was about having 30 threads writing at the same time on the drive.

Since about a month though, speed has been maxing out around 200 Mbs.

At some time using specifically one of these IPs:

81.171.92.234
81.171.118.146
81.171.118.147
81.171.92.220
81.171.118.148

rather than the generic eu.newsleecher.com address could speed things back to 380 Mbs, but that's not happening anymore.

So, has the Newsleecher service become slower, or is my ISP throttling down my connection?

EDIT: this is with any of the 3 SSL ports. Using non-SLL goes back to 380 Mbs.

Check this thread where I started to post about that too:

It's the Newsleecher 7 client that slows with SSL, as other have confirmed. The service itself seems to go up to 500 Mbs when I use Newsbin 6 instead of Newsleecher 7.

Still can't really use V8, we need a fix for the main bug!
