I probably just can't find it anymore!!

Post by AdvR » Thu Mar 15, 2007 3:39 pm

I have just installed the new beta release 3.9b2 and have lost a very useful function that I had in b1. I can no longer filter the article subjects by number of days. Does anyone know where this now is located?

Can't you just use the column to sort by age? I see what you mean, the advanced filter is removed. I never used it, but it does look useful. I wonder why it got removed.

Column sort messes sorted subjects

Yes, I can use the column sort but then the already sorted subjects get all messed up. I use the days filter to priortize my primary news service over my subscribed news service.

AdvR,

Check the help button next to the search filter box.

You can age-filter searches by using the new minDays / maxDays tags.
bug fixed. no idea how. hate it when that happens. trying to break it again now. will. not. be. defeated.

Why the change? Using Adv Filters is more user friendly then to type minDays:5 in the filter box. Also, when changing a name to filter, you double click the filterbox to clear it quickly, losing the maxdays along with it. I think it would be best to put the adv filters back in the next release.

I agree, it should be brought back. I find it easier and quicker to use. Set whatever adv filters you want, then you can simply use the filter box to sift through the results. Easier than typing a name, then adding the min and max days, realizing u searched for the wrong thing and have to type in that big long string all over again. I do not see it as being more powerful at all. Just more cumbersome and time consuming.

I also was looking everywhere to find the filter toolbar.
Please put it back because I find it easier than using the Quickfilter.
May be these two options can live beside eachother and make Newsleecher even more flexible.

Please get the old situation back. This is not a user friendly feature

Agreed, I'd rather have the toolbar than have to type min and max days...

It would be awesome to be able to save the 'Articles' search strings as Named Bookmarks...

...in other words, save the searches to buttons, like SuperSearch does with Favorite searches.

I think I want the pre 3.9 beta 2 toolbar back, but with more granular filtering

...or both.;).

min size/max size

We have also lost the ability to filter by min size and max size. I use this to filter out garbage which is usually about a million small files.
PLEASE put the adv filter option back.

dkauger,

It's still possible, but it's done within the quick search field...

for example...

jpg minKB:256 maxKB:1024

btw everyone - is the following possible?

jpg minKB:256 maxKB:1024 -poster:autofan

I'm thinking you want to exclude a poster? Then, no I don't think that is possible. But I haven't tried it.
