Working, but looks like not to be updated, any time soon. Sad.

So why not release the current version you have for Version 8 and call it Beta 1, which will open it up to more people to test (it is a BETA version still, so the risk averse people will stay on Version 7 Final Release), and then continue to work on the issues the programmers are having, and once resolved, a Beta 2 could be released, which satisfies the people who like to test new versions frequently. (Myself being one of the frequent testers).

I can only conclude that either there is no beta version at this time, or it is still so buggy that there would be a flood of problems reported, if it was made available for download. Very disappointing, considering how much time continues to fly by.

Considering that this software switched to a monthly subscription as opposed to a flat price it's starting to seem extremely shady to continue to tease updates that never come.

I just realized that I've basically payed $90 USD for this program so far since the last update which is pretty ludicrous. I will not be renewing my subscription once I find a suitable alternative.

Let me know if you find a suitable alternative so I can cancel my subscruption too.

I finally did it! I cancelled my subscription, as of july 25th I'm no longer paying.

I first purchased Newsleecher in october 2009. From february 2013 I was a monthly subscriber. That 64 months times $5.

Newsbin pro seems promising it even has a search server. Not the shiny interface NL has, but it's actively developed on.

BTW last final release was more than 2 years ago..... beta releases even longer ago.

A suitable alternative would be this

https://sabnzbd.org/downloads (free)

Coupled with a dedicated index site such as Nzbplanet because SuperSerach/Leech are now useless due to pretty much all posts switching to obfuscation and various other means ;)

yes the last month there have been 2 test releases in the alphagroup and one more is coming within a few days.
The time has come to give us all the final answer. Will there be a new version within the next 30? days or is the Newsleecher V8 project cancelled ?

On 31.09.2018 i will cancel my sub cause using V7 makes no longer sense. Manual "renaming" or using external tools to fix all the flaws is not the solution i need in 2018.

Thanks.

I already cancelled mine. I went with Sabnzbd and XSnews, located in the Netherlands. Even though the server is located in the Netherlands, I am easily maxing out my paltry 500mbit connection, which I was never able to do with Newsleecher's service. This is probably due to the fact that Newleecher is a reseller, and XSnews is a tier 1 provider.

For me it isn't the lack of updates, it is the lack of transparency. No one has posted anything about state of the service, or updates other than a blurb about an alleged alpha or beta that was released to the forums, but has supposedly been deleted. The service owner and software author has said nothing and the last 'news' in the software itself is from January 11 of this year.

This creates a lack of confidence in the product and service for me, leading to my leaving. Rest assured, Newsleecher software, even in its current update lacking state, is the best desktop news reader software there is. I will most likely jump back if and when there is news.

At this point, I can't imagine a new version forthcoming in the future. Given the amount of time that has transpired, and the consistent stream of false promises, one really has to question the competency of those who are designing and coding an alleged NewsLeecher V8.
